Founder and chef, Kyo Pang will give a speech prior to the movie screening, where we explore the lived LGBTQ+ experiences within the Asian diaspora.

In response to the tragic and senseless mass shooting that occurred in Lewiston, Maine on October 25, 2023, Bright Funds has curated the Lewiston Maine Relief Fund. The following nonprofit organizations are currently accepting donations in an effort to support survivors, families, and the community at large as they work towards recovery. Your donation to this Fund will help support the Lewiston community and those impacted during this difficult time.

Hurricane Otis made landfall in Acapulco, Mexico on October 25, 2023 after quickly shifting from a tropical storm to a powerful Category 5 hurricane, resulting in several reported deaths, displacement, and catastrophic infrastructure damage. Extensive damage in the area initially halted relief efforts, and support to the community impacted is crucial. The following organizations are currently providing emergency response resources, food, water, and supplies to those impacted. Please note that the organizations included in this Fund are subject to change as we learn more about needs on the ground.

Movember 2023 - This November we are raising money for work in mental health, suicide prevention, prostate cancer and testicular cancer

This fund benefits three disaster relief organizations: (1) The American Red Cross prevents and alleviates human suffering in the face of emergencies by mobilizing the power of volunteers and the generosity of donors; (2) Doctors without Borders provides urgently needed humanitarian aid in moments of crisis and conflict; (3) World Central Kitchen provides meals in response to humanitarian, climate, and community crises.

Movember is a global movement to raise awareness surrounding men's health, with a particular focus on prostate cancer, testicular cancer, and mental health. The Movember Foundation funds various projects surrounding early detection initiatives as well as suicide prevention, and ultimately aims to improve health outcomes for men around the world. On October 7th, devastating terror attacks in Israel murdered and injured thousands of people and have now sparked massive unrest, suffering, and death for innocent Israelis and Palestinians. The nonprofits here support the victims of this tragedy and those who continue to be in harm’s way.

A peaceful Saturday in Palestine has erupted into a humanitarian crisis. As of 10/12, more than 1400 people including at least 150 children have lost their precious lives and more than 6200 have been injured. Hospitals and emergency relief efforts, already strained for resources, are now scrambling to save lives without power, fuel, water, medical equipment and basic human needs. In such a situation, the inherently vulnerable: the critically ill, children, families, and the elderly are most at risk and in need of support. Those of us with close family and friends in Israel appreciate how many of you have already reached out to check on us and show your support.
