RTP Walk to End Alzheimer’s 2020 Fund
Alzheimer’s disease is the sixth-leading cause of death in the North Carolina and an 161% increase in deaths since 2000. There are approximately 5 million Americans living with the disease and one in three seniors dies with Alzheimer’s or another dementia. Between 2000 and 2018, deaths from Alzheimer’s has increased 146%. In terms of caregiving, there are more than 16 million caregivers of people living with Alzheimer’s and other dementias in the United States. The caregivers provide $18.6 billion hours of unpaid care, a contribution to the nation valued at more than $244 billion. In 2020, Alzheimer’s disease will cost the United States $305 billion. This number is projected to rise to more than $1.1 trillion in 2050. Event The world may look a little different right now, but one thing hasn’t changed: our commitment to ending Alzheimer’s. This year, Walk to End Alzheimer’s is everywhere – on sidewalk, track and trail. Raleigh, NC will walk on Saturday, October 10, 2020. Your health and safety are our top priorities. We won’t have a large in-person gathering – instead, we invite you to walk in small teams of friends and family while others in your community do the same. Because we are all still walking and fundraising for the same thing: a world without Alzheimer’s and all other dementia. Every dollar you donate will help the Alzheimer’s Association provide care and support to all those facing Alzheimer’s and all other dementia. Together, we can end Alzheimer’s. Please consider supporting Cisco’s efforts with a donation. Thank you for your support! #ASN #WeAreCisco #WalktoEndAlzheimers Have Questions? North America, Can you Step Up to the Challenge? Fund
The Challenge You may have seen in May when RAF Financial Analysts Roland Camacho and Dylan Johnston out of the Edmond, Oklahoma office led a virtual helping hands event for the West Territory. Well, they’re doing it again and challenging all of North America to join in on the challenge. We will be walking the week of September 14th and your daily steps Monday through Friday that week will count towards an individual and team competition. The Goals We want to feel connected while we are still apart, we want to raise money for a good cause and we are encouraging everyone to stay active. The Charity We will be raising money for Feeding America and the American Red Cross, in light of all the recent natural disasters. If you are joining the challenge from outside of U.S., and would like to add additional charities to support North America, please let us know. Our recommendation is that each person donates a penny per step on their daily average – that means that if you walk the recommended 10,000 steps daily, we’d ask you donate $100 to the fund with a maximum recommendation of $100, so don’t worry if you blow past 10,000 steps. Also, if you’d like to join the step challenge but aren’t ready to donate, that is fine as well. Tracking Progress There are many ways to track your daily steps via the Health app on your Smartphone, Smartwatch or download the StepUp Pedometer from your app store. In order to track your steps for the challenge, we ask that you can email or text your daily steps to Carollann Romo. (Carollann.romo@raboag.com, 661-904-7558) We will have updates for the team challenges throughout the week. Currently the teams are broke out to Wholesale, DLL, Pacific Territory RAF/RDS, West Territory RAF/RDS, East Territory RAF/RDS, Central Territory RAF/RDS, Vendor Finance and RDS. You can choose your team or let us know if we missed a group. As you’re walking, please take a picture too and we’ll use them to put together a recap video. The Competition Each of the top three individuals with the most steps will receive $100 in their Bright Funds account to donate to a charity of their choice, this is thanks to the Health and Wellness Committee. We will also be tracking the team winners. There are two team winners, one will be based on the total number of steps and another will be on the average steps per person.
