American National Red Cross
The Red Cross is mobilizing hundreds of trained Red Cross disaster relief workers, truckloads of kitchen supplies, and tens of thousands of ready-to-eat meals to support this response effort. Trailers full of shelter supplies including cots and blankets arrived in Texas on Friday. More than 40 Red Cross emergency response vehicles are activated with more on alert. The Red Cross is also working in close collaboration with government officials and community partners in both Texas and Louisiana to coordinate potential response efforts.
Direct Relief
Just before Hurricane Harvey was upgraded in strength to a Category 4 storm on Friday, Direct Relief shipped an Emergency Health Kit full of enough supplies to treat 100 patients for 3 to 5 days. The kits contain critical medicines, like those needed to manage high blood pressure, asthma and other chronic conditions. Created as a sort of mobile pharmacy, the kit is built to be distributed to people impacted by natural disasters.
